Yu-Gi-Oh Life Point Counter
A free Yu-Gi-Oh life point counter for two duelists. It opens at 8000 LP with quick buttons and a keypad that works as an LP calculator. No account, no download, and after the first visit it works with no signal.
How to use this Yu-Gi-Oh life point counter
Lay the phone or tablet flat between the two duelists. Each side faces its own player and has quick buttons for 50, 100, 500 and 1000 LP, plus a keypad for any exact amount.
Quick buttons
Four buttons on each side take away 1000, 500, 100 or 50 life points, and four more add the same amounts. On a keyboard, the arrow keys change the focused duelist by 100, and Shift with an arrow changes it by 1000.
The keypad (LP calculator)
Tap the big life points number to open the keypad. Type an amount such as 1700, then tap Damage to take it off, Gain to add it, or Set to to make it the new total. The keypad shows the sum before you commit it, so you can check 8000 minus 1700 is 6300 first.
Halve life points
For cards that cut life points in half, open the keypad and tap Half. It halves that duelist's total in one tap and rounds an odd result up.
Speed Duel at 4000
Tap the button in the middle of the table, choose Yu-Gi-Oh, pick 4000 Speed Duel and start a new game. The same menu has a coin, a die, undo and a history of every change.
Yu-Gi-Oh life points rules
Each player starts a Duel with 8000 LP, and you win by reducing your opponent's LP to 0, as the official Yu-Gi-Oh rulebook sets out. If both players reach 0 LP at the same time, the Duel is a draw.
You can also win if your opponent cannot draw a card, or if a card's effect says you win. In a Speed Duel each player begins with 4000 LP, according to the official Speed Duel guide.
The rulebook also suggests a calculator for keeping track of LP, and paper as a backup during important Duels. This counter does the calculator part and keeps a history you can read back. More rules are on the official rulebook page.
On this counter, life points stop at 0 and the panel shows Out. A tap brings that duelist back if the count was a mistake.
Playing Magic as well?
The same counter runs a game of Magic: The Gathering. The MTG life counter handles 20 life for two players, and the Commander life counter opens four players at 40 with commander damage and poison. For paper, dice and apps compared, read how to track life in Magic.
